Thats what I call the current excitement over the new sensation that is the much awaited fiber optic cable by the name of Seacom.
Word is that it has already landed in Mombasa but wont be operational till June. . . .
If there is anything that dampens my spirits and reduces credence to any call or anticipation is anything that is government backed. . . .. .Our government has an impeccable record at delivering dissapointments and I doubt that this will be an exclusion. .. . . .
one thing is clear and even Michael Joseph , the CEO of Safaricom said it. . . . . . .Prices wont come down any time soon.. . .. Service however and speeds should significantly improve. . . .. Thus it is likely we will get faster speeds for the same amount of cash paid on our current tariffs. . .e.g Safaricom 3g may actually hit the 7.2 mbps mark. . . . .also reliability may also be improved as fiber offers point to point connectivity unlike wireless. . . . .but existence of a physical data medium may create more playing ground for Somali(or other) pirates!. . . . .
